Gran Teatro Metro
On our last night in Montevideo we performed at a lovely little venue called Gran Teatro Metro. It was probably the most intimate gig of the tour and my first time playing in Uruguay.
Once again (as was becoming the norm during my time here) I had another Candombe moment whilst telling the audience about my experiences with their national rhythm. Without any encouragement, the entire theatre was clapping to the Candombe.

Danceability
After a short break from visiting charities due to our performances in Brazil (where we visited a charity earlier last year) it was time to visit a charity called DanceAbility in Uruguay. it is clear to see DanceAbility has one goal… to improve the wellbeing of children with disabilities, through the medium music and dance. And from what I saw they are doing that and then some.
Every child there was so happy. I got to sit in on one of their music lessons where I learnt the Uruguayan rhythm Candombe (with one young man in particular, a real talent on the bongos) and then I got to join in on the Dance class.
During the dance class the teachers and volunteers were so good with the children. They were throwing all sorts of crazy shapes whilst encouraging the children to do the same (not that they needed encouraging).
