Drop4Drop – India, Mumbai

Joss visited a slum in Eastern Mumbai called Rafiq Nagar that has serious water issues. Lack of clean water causes horrible infrastructure and sanitary problems that can cause illness and disease. Joss was joined by Sam Pyant from Drop4Drop to show her around and explain what needed to be done… Water is not just a hydration issue, or sanitary need, it also has huge impact on things like education. Hours spent searching for clean water , or any water, can be spent on education if water is available.

Drop4Drop are doing their best to help solve some of these issues. They believe that clean water changes lives, and it does! Access to clean water transforms lives, creates opportunities and lays the foundation to a better future! So , with that in mind the Joss Stone Foundation funded new 2 wells! Joss personally auctioned a one of a kind dress to help fund these 2 wells partnering with Drop 4 Drop.

«Prior to installation of this bore-well we faced lot of problems due to water scarcity. If we go for water, we had to lose wage labour. If we go for wage labour, we had to face the problem of least water at home. Now all our problems were solved because drop4drop’s hand pump well is providing us sufficient water at all times. So we are going to our income generating work and we also getting water from this bore-well. We are thankful to the sponsor Joss Stone Foundation for supporting this bore-well».

“Access to safe drinking water often requires long arduous hours of walking to the nearest source of water. Due to the amount of time required to reach a clean water source, many community members frequently resort to dinking dirty, stagnant surface water. Thanks to the Joss Stone Foundation for recognising that access to safe drinking water in our village is needed. Water is very essential in combating the effects of a cute malnutrition and improving the health. The situation so far in our village has changed. We now have access to clean and safe water thus improving our health”.
