La Quinta

After being told several times by many different people never to set foot in Venezuela and in addition to that “there is nowhere for you to play Joss!“, you start to realise the only real way you can know what a place is like is to go there and find out for yourself. Venezuela, of course, has its problems. I was only there for a day and a half so for me to tell you those problems would be completely silly and totally out of place. I can only tell you what I know from my own personal experience.

The people in Venezuela are strong, kind, polite, funny and have great passion. The people I was lucky to come across were in love with music and life. They are the reason to visit Venezuela. I didn’t get a chance to see the Amazon forest or the highest waterfall or the oldest lake in the world, but I can tell you that the people are reason enough to visit this place. We were very well looked after and protected but the protection was a precaution for something that could happen but not something that would or did.

I feel blessed to have made this trip in the way that we did and I am grateful for the experience as it showed me a little piece of the turret that not everyone gets to see. Thank you to all and everyone that I met on my trip there, thank you to everyone in the audience for making music worth making. In you, I see the reason why we bother.
